Project Overview

SunnySide is a brunch restaurant catering to both families and individuals. For this project, I designed a menu for the restaurant, which embraces an old British-style aesthetic. The design, created using Adobe Illustrator and InDesign, aims to evoke a clean, inviting, and warmly welcoming atmosphere.

Struggles & Success

I encountered several challenges while working on this menu project. The first was creating the brand logo and coming up with a name for the restaurant. As someone who isn’t a morning person and often skips breakfast—an unhealthy habit—I wanted this design to serve as a reminder to embrace the energy and warmth of a hearty breakfast and to cherish those moments with family.

I named the restaurant SunnySide to reflect the brightness and positivity of the morning. The color palette consists of light yellow, orange, brown, and black. The logo combines a chef’s hat with rays of sunshine, symbolizing the energy and nourishment a good breakfast provides. I incorporated brown to evoke a classic British aesthetic and to highlight the chef’s role in fueling a fresh start to the day.

After completing the initial version, I realized that the design felt too plain, with too much content condensed onto a single page and no images to visually guide the menu. In the revised version, I incorporated images and vector graphics to make the menu more engaging and interactive.
